This is AIRTEC Motorsport Mondeo Mk3 2.0/2.2 Turbo Diesel Front Mount Intercooler

This huge intercooler from AIRTEC Motorsport is designed to reduce Air Charge Temperatures (ACTé and increase power and fuel efficiency. The original intercooler on the Mondeo 2.0 & 2.2 turbo diesels is often too small to cope, but this upgraded intercooler features a new high flow 60mm core and angled flow end tanks, resulting in improved power, torque, and lower ACTî

TESTED:

AIRTEC Motorsport conducted tests on a standard car fitted with their intercooler upgrade at AmD Motorsport. The results showed a 5.2 bhp increase and a massive 31.5 lb ft increase in torque. These gains can be easily doubled when the intercooler is fitted to a remapped Mondeo. Street Performance also tested a modified Mondeo diesel with the intercooler upgrade, which produced 208bhp and 441 lb ft of torque.

According to David at Street Performance, %m>Figures are very good, even without the map it measured 173bhp instead of 155bhp. With mapping we saw the power rise to 208bhp. We did limit the caràtorque for more revs and a smooth power curve as possible. But this will be raised 10-15lb ft after some more fiddling with the map along with 220+bhp to make ST220/ST225 owners jealous, with same or better performance with 40-50mpg¼/p>

In addition to performance gains, the AIRTEC Motorsport intercooler significantly reduces intake air charge temperatures under load. In tests conducted with both a standard car and Street Performanceàmodified Mondeo, the intercooler kept intake temperatures below 15 while the standard car experienced temperatures as high as 55-60¼/p>
